With the only clear round in both rounds of the Queen Elizabeth II Cup (1.60 meters), the Grand Prix of the CSI5* Spruce Meadows/CAN, Ventago by Van Helsing/Scendix/Dorian (dam line of Arma, breeder: Stefan Trentelmann, Rastede) and Abdulrahman Alrajhi were unstoppable in this competition, which offered a prize purse of one million U.S. dollars.
The pair had already competed for Saudi Arabia at the Olympic Games in Paris, France, where they finished 14th in the individual final. A year earlier, they had won team gold at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This is Ventago’s third Grand Prix victory following wins in San Giovanni in Marignano, Italy, and Greenwich, USA, in the Olympic year. The 30-year-old Abdulrahman Alrajhi is trained by German David Will and took over Ventago from Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking, who placed second in the Frankfurt Grand Prix, among other achievements.
