Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program (PHS)

In 1993, the Hanoverian Jumping Breeding Program (Programm Hannoveraner Springpferdezucht – PHS) was initiated. The aim of this breeding program is to give new impetus to the breeding of show jumping horses. Part oft the Hanoverian population is specifically geared towards the breeding of exzellent show jumpers. It was updated in 2023. A system of awarding stars * to mares was introduced.

The free jumping competitions of the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program in March have been showcases for three- and four-year old talents since 1997. Numerous careers have already begun in the Niedersachsenhalle in Verden. Since 2024, only three-year-olds are presented in the free jumping. The four-year-olds show their talents under the rider.

Free jumping competition

It was a truly golden moment for the winner of the 2025 free jumping competition for three-year-olds in Verden: Golden Moment M took home the yellow and white winner’s sash. Cobra Mad Joe was the best four-year-old in the suitability test under saddle.
Forty representatives of the 2021 crop competed in the free jumping competition, which was judged by internationally successful show jumper Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking and Thomas Schönig from the Hanoverian Society. The third starter, Golden Moment M by Grey Top/Comte (breeder and exhibitor: Peter Mahler, Neuhaus), set a score of 26.3 points that was not to be surpassed. Her dam, Hann.Pr.St. Coco M, was already in the spotlight as the winner of the Herwart von der Decken Show and third in the free jumping competition in Verden. The reward for her excellent performance was a stud fee voucher from the Celle State Stud. Victory in the second class went to the snow-white Carridam/Grey Top daughter Crushed Ice PJ (breeder and exhibitor: Pferdezucht Dr. Jacobs GbR, Bierbergen) with 26.2 points, helping her breeders to another great success at the Verden free jumping competition.
For the second time, the four-year-olds competed in the suitability test under saddle. Cobra Mad Joe by Cabo Verde/Stakkato (breeder: Jochen Meyer, Allwörden) followed in the footsteps of her full brother Cabo Mad Jo and took the victory. As in the previous year, the dark bay mare was skillfully presented by Hergen Forkert. Second place went to Calicos PJ by Calido/Silvio (breeder and exhibitor: Pferdezucht Dr. Jacobs GbR, Bierbergen) with Annika Ebert, and third place went to Highway M TN/Canstakko’s daughter Highlight B (breeder and exhibitor: Wilfried Berg, Burgdorf), presented by Kilian Römer. The winner was delighted to receive a stud fee voucher from the Dirk Ahlmann stallion station in Reher. The highest score among the five-year-old eventing horses was achieved by Granne by Gentleman/Avagon (breeder: Dr. Korinna Lemke, Aerzen) with breeder’s daughter Lotta Lemke in the saddle.
