Hanover’s Young Mares in the Spotlight

On Monday, August 3, the Herwart von der Decken Show will bring the Hanoverian Society’s breeding highlights directly to Verden. Starting at 9:30 a.m., the Verden show grounds will be transformed into a stage for the best three- and four-year-old dressage and show jumping mares of the year.

To make the event even more compact and spectator-friendly, all program items will take place on the main arena this year. The traditional open-air free jumping session kicks off a day full of breeding highlights. A total of 76 mares, nominated for Verden by the Hanoverian regional associations, are expected to participate. Breeding Director Ulrich Hahne and Executive Committee member Hergen Forkert will be joined by top-tier judges: Heike Kemmer and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, as well as Danish breeding expert Martin Klavsen.

A special highlight of the program is the ceremonial presentation of the prestigious Friedrich Jahncke Prize, which honors the highest-rated mare family from the past show season. Traditionally, the Herwart von der Decken Show serves as the magnificent opening event for the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses and the Hanoverian Riding Horse Championships.

For all breeding enthusiasts who cannot be in Verden in person, the entire show will be livestreamed online. Admission is free.
