German Horse Quality Foal Auction Wows in Warendorf

Packed stands, exciting bidding duels and a superb atmosphere at the DSP Arena in Warendorf: on Thursday evening, the German Horse Quality Foal Auction became a genuine crowd-puller during the Al Shira’aa Bundeschampionate. Twenty-four select dressage, show-jumping and riding pony foals from the four breeding associations of Hanover, Oldenburg, Westphalia and the German Sport Horse took centre stage. The average price was 17,938 euros.

The Oldenburg collection produced the evening’s top price: Le Papillon M by La Paix/Vitalis attracted considerable interest and changed hands for 37,000 euros. The other young prospects from the four breeding programmes also sparked exciting bidding duels and impressive prices. The most expensive Hanoverian foal was Flip a Coin by First Magic/Zack (breeder and exhibitor: Hof Brüning, Ochtmannien), who captured the interest of an on-site bidder in Warendorf and sold for 21,000 euros.

The Hanoverian Society, the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society, the Westphalian Studbook and the German Sport Horse Working Group each sent six carefully selected foals to Warendorf. The strong attendance and the special atmosphere during the auction underlined the appeal of the German Horse Quality concept: four breeding societies, four breeding programmes and one shared stage for Germany’s next generation of sport horses.
