Despite the heat, many spectators remained in the stands after the cross-country test at the Longines Luhmühlen Horse Trials to witness the Hanoverian Society’s eventing foal auction. And they got their money’s worth: The majority of the foals were purchased by internationally successful three- and four-star stables. Auctioneer Bernd Hickert hammered down the gavel twice at 20,000 euros.
The very first foal caused a stir. The dam of the Duplexx/Contendro son Dubsky (breeder and exhibitor: Wolfgang Lutz, Völkersen) is the full sister of Michael Jung’s Olympic champion fischerChipmunk FRH. The bay colt sold for 20,000 euros. The penultimate foal, Butt’s Adwood by Diathletico/Graf Top (breeder and exhibitor: Prof. Dr. Volker Steinkraus, Ollsen), fetched the same price. He comes from the world-famous line of Friedrich Butt. He, too, has prominent relatives: Little Fire, who enjoyed success with William Fox-Pitt up to CCI5*, is the full brother of the dam.
Following the successful debut, the Hanoverian Society and the horse show organizers are looking forward to a continuation next year. Not to be forgotten is the collaboration with the Luhmühlen Horse Breeders’ Club, which contributed significantly to the successful premiere, not least thanks to the help of the young breeders.
