German Horse Quality Dressage Foal Auction: 20 dressage foals impress

20 dressage foals impress at first German Horse Quality auction.‘We want to make history,’ said auctioneer Christoph Rowold at the start of the German Horse Quality dressage foal auction during the Al Shira’aa National Championships in Warendorf. For the first time, the four major German warmblood breeding associations – Deutsches Sportpferd, Hanover, Oldenburg and Westphalia – jointly presented a high-calibre auction of selected dressage foals. The top price was achieved by Vanilla Gold, who was sold for €110,000.

The collection brought together top young horses from the best breeding farms in Germany and the most modern European bloodlines. In the auction ring, the foals impressed with their quality of movement, type and charisma. The ‘historic’ bid of €110,000 was made for the Westphalian Vitalis/Fürst Magic daughter Vanilla Gold (breeder and exhibitor: Philipp Welsing, Borken) to a buyer from Portugal who had bid online. The champion of the German Foal Championships, the Oldenburg colt Spirit of Hope by Seacrest/Sir Donnerhall (breeder and exhibitor: Christine Arns-Krogmann, Lohne), found a new owner in Canada for €72,000. Another top price was achieved by the Oldenburg filly Beautiful Lady by Bon Courage/Vitalis (breeder and exhibitor: Dr Rolf-Peter Schulze, Tiddische), which was also sold to Canada for €60,000.

The atmosphere was exuberant, the audience enthusiastic – a premiere that shows how much quality and potential there is in German horse breeding. ‘It is in keeping with the spirit of the times that four major breeding associations are working together at an auction,’ said Christoph Rowold. The first joint German Horse Quality auction impressed with its high quality, good sales figures and positive response.
