The red carpet was rolled out at the Niedersachsenhalle for the 21 high-quality dressage horses at the Hanoverian Society’s fourth High Level Auction. Top price went to the black gelding Shazam B, who sold for 170,000 Euros. The collection ranged from a five-year-old prospect to a 14-year-old dressage horse, offering suitable hores for a variety of requirements.
Bidders could take part in person, by telephone or online, making for an international audience. The selected horses impressed with their level of training, sporting quality and potential for top-level dressage. “You don’t often see an auction lot of this quality in Europe,” auctioneer Bernd Hickert told the spectators and prospective buyers. “The High Level Auction has already inspired imitators, but Verden remains the original!” Starting prices reflected each horse’s level of training and quality.
The top price at the High Level Auction was achieved by Shazam B by Secret/Franziskus. The black gelding, who has already won Dressage tests at S level, is a real eye-catcher. His type and movement quality owe much to his damsire, Franziskus. His exhibitor, Dr Peter Brenske of Berlin, will not soon forget this afternoon in Verden. Earlier in the auction, his Bella Secure by Secret/Best of Gold had found a new owner from France for 168,000 Euros. The buyer was at the auction in person and could hardly believe her luck after securing the 2018-born chestnut mare, who has already achieved success at S level and comes from the dam line of Oböe.
The net turnover for the 21 horses in the High Level Auction totalled 1,796,000 euros. Three horses will continue their careers in France, with one each going to Denmark, Canada, Qatar and Hungary.
