121st Elite-Auction

Euro 320,000 paid for top-priced horse Dante's Peak
83 Hanoverian horses sold at an average Euro 37,181

International top-class dressage riders came to Verden to purchase first-class prospects for future dressage sport. Top-priced horse of the 121st Hanoverian Elite Auction was the Dimaggio/Wolkentanz-son Dante's Peak (breeder: Heinrich Oetting, Warmsen, exhibitor: Tim Schwengel, Raddestorf). A well-known dressage stable in Aubenhausen in Bavaria purchased the big moving chestnut horse at Euro 320,000. The 83 Hanoverian riding horses were sold at an average Euro 37,181. The 42 foals put up for auction afterwards achieved an average price of Euro 5,676. Most expensive foal was Quidam Junior by Quidam de Revel/Calypso II (breeder and exhibitor: Jens Kwist, Gram/Denmark).

Top-priced show jumping horse was the licensed stallion and Champion of his stallion performance test First Edition by For Edition/Grand Cru (breeder: Karl-Heinz Fittschen, Dohren, exhibitor: Ira Denkhaus, Gestuet Kempke Hof, Plaaz). The show stable of the Royal Moroccan Army accepted the bid at Euro 90,000. They also purchased five more Hanoverian horses.

35 horses will leave Germany. Apart from Morocco (six horses), most of the purchases were made from customers from Sweden and Denmark (each four horses).

"13 horses were sold at more than Euro 50,000. This is a quite satisfying result," auction manager Dr. Guenther Friemel said. The auction result showed that the propensity to buy would improve again and that quality would pay-off again, too.

Highlights of the Gala Evening Show on Friday before the Elite Auction was the farewell ceremony for the stallion Goldfever by Grosso Z/Galvano (breeder: Siegurd Hochmuth, Meerbeck), one of the most successful German show jumping horses of his times, and the award ceremony of the Hanoverian Mare of the Year 2009. The Argentinus/St. Ferdy-daughter April Sun (breeder: Carsten Mueller-Rulfs, owner: Henning Mueller-Rulfs, Ritterhude) was accorded this honour. She is dam to Lantinus by Landkoenig who successfully competes at international level with the Irish rider Denis Lynch. She is also dam of the licensed stallion For Argentinus and of other successful competition horses.
