122nd Elite Auction of Hanoverian Riding Horses and Foals

There was a sound price structure at the 122nd Elite Auction of Hanoverian riding horses and foals with an average auction sales price of Euro 30,345 achieved for the 75 riding horses. Top-priced horse was the Sir Donnerhall/Weltmeyer-son Scampolo (breeder and exhibitor: Franz Blaser, Ebersbach), sold at Euro 127,000 to a successful dressage stable in North Rhine-Westphalia.

„Our concept for success: good horses, good riders and good riding,“ Dr. Guenther Friemel happily said.  The show jumping horses presented especially superb performances. The most expensive horse for the course was Crespa by Contendro/For Pleasure (breeder: Joachim Tobaben, Buxtehude, exhibitor: Erich single, Pfalzgrafenweiler). The bay mare was sold at Euro 87,000 to Great Britain. Just like Crespa, 35 other Hanoverian horses will leave German, too. The largest groups of buyers came from Denmark, Great Britain and the United States.
“The auction of riding horses featured a sound price structure,“ Dr. Guenther Friemel stated. “The excellent average price was achieved without any incredibly expensive „runaways“.” More than half of the collection was sold at Euro 25,000 and more.

The auction of foals was as satisfactory. Most expensive foal was the Bonifatius/De Niro-son Botschafter (breeder and exhibitor: Thorsten Hogrefe, Stoecken). Hanoverian friends from Sweden accepted the bid at Euro 32,000. The 44 foals were sold at averagely Euro 6,930. 26 foals were sold to Germany, 18 to foreign countries. Especially happy to shop were groups from Scandinavia. Each four foals were sold to Finland and Sweden.

The Gala Evening Show of the last auction held in the Niedersachsenhalle before the reconstruction works start was characterized by a fascinating show program and various honour ceremonies. The Celle state stud stallion Embassy by Escudo/Silvio (breeder: Dr. Bonny-Jasmin Jacobs, Bierbergen) was awarded the Grande-Prize. Stallions, aged 10 to 13, who already influenced the Hanoverian breed tremendously at an early age, are honoured with this award. Embassy is a successful competition horse, but also sire of 37 state premium mares, 37 Verden auction foals and 35 auction horses. His daughter, state premium mare Estelle, was the best show jumping mare of the Herwart von der Decken-Show in 2007.

Axel Windeler from Verden-Walle was honoured as most successful auction exhibitor with the Hans Joachim Koehler-Prize. Hans-Heinrich Ehlen, Lower Saxonian Minister of Agriculture, presented Horst Wesch from Ankelohe with a certificate as successful breeder of competition horses in Lower Saxony in 2010. One of the best German event horses comes from his breeding program: Air Jordan by Amerigo Vespucci xx/Wittensee won the German Championships twice with Frank Ostholt and competed at the Olympic Games in Athens.
