Top-priced horse sold at Euro 50,000
First auction of the year of Hannoveraner Verband was a great success
Low “Ina” brought icy temperatures and some centimetres of new snow to
Verden. But this did not harm potential buyers’ interest in the collection: Fans of
Hanoverian horses on the well-filled stands in the Niedersachsenhalle battled it out in exciting bidding duels and contributed to the top result achieved at this Winter Auction of Hannoveraner Verband.
The collection included 92 four- to six-year-old horses – lots of them with excellent prospects for advanced level dressage or show jumping sport. A brilliant dressage horse became top-priced horse of the auction: Customers from Sweden paid Euro 50,000 for the sporty Smaragd by Samarant/Don Davidoff (breeder: Elke, Georg and Birte Hey, Langen, exhibitor: Birte Hey, Hamburg). Ernie by Escudo/Graf Grannus (breeder and exhibitor:
Karl-August Matzdorf, Hattorf) was the most expensive show jumping horse. A show jumping expert from Lower Saxony paid Euro 41,000 for the four-year-old black horse.
Auctioneer Friedrich-Wilhelm Isernhagen sold the horses at an average auction sales price of Euro 13,829.34. Auction manager Dr. Guenther Friemel was very happy: „This was an excellent start into the new auction year, and it even exceeded our expectations. We achieved a sound result and appreciate the cleared market and the excellent price structure.” As usual, there was a tremendous interest in Hanoverian sport horses from foreign countries. Eleven nations purchased 39 horses. Breeding manager Dr. Werner Schade summarized: „France and Scandinavia were again very strong and purchased 20 horses. I am especially happy about customers from Hungary. There is something going on in this country
